On 6-7 November 2025, the University of Roma Tre was pleased to host the final conference of the PRIN 2022 PNRR “RINASCI” – “Implementing the Nature Restoration Regulation: Legal Challenges and Opportunities” (programme available here).

With over 90 participants and 25 online, the conference brought together a broad and diverse group. Despite the legal focus of the sessions, many participants were not of a legal background, but instead came from the ecological sciences and landscape architecture, professions that will be directly involved with implementing the EU legal framework on biodiversity and thus directly concerned with project outputs.

The Conference included 6 panels and 1 roundtable, involving speakers from academia and institutions, from Italy and abroad. Numerous participants were members of institutions and public authorities – such as ISPRA, CREA, Comune di Roma,  Ministero dell’Ambiente and Sicurezza Energetica.

It was follwed by an excursion to the Centro Habitat Mediterraneo di Ostia, where Alessandro Polinori, President of LIPU, welcomed delegates to the site, formerally an illegal waste tip and now an oasis for birds, including flamingos, grebes, and herons, a brilliant example of the potentail of biodiversity restoration in the city.
